1.1 About Zeal
Zeal IO Limited (“Zeal”, “we”, “us”, “our”) provides loyalty program technology and services to merchants through payment terminals and mobile applications. When you join a merchant’s loyalty program powered by Zeal, you become a participant in our loyalty ecosystem.

1.2 What These Terms Cover
These Consumer Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your participation in loyalty programs powered by Zeal technology, including:
- Earning and redeeming loyalty points, stamps, or rewards
- Using merchant-branded mobile applications powered by Zeal
- Receiving marketing communications from merchants
- Linking your payment card for automatic recognition
- Any other consumer-facing features provided through Zeal technology
1.3 Relationship Between Zeal and Merchants
Zeal provides the technology platform that powers loyalty programs for participating merchants. When you join a loyalty program:
- The merchant determines the rewards, earning rates, and program rules
- The merchant is responsible for honouring rewards you earn
- Zeal provides the technology and processes your data as described in our Privacy Policy
- Your relationship is with both Zeal (as technology provider) and the merchant (as program operator)
2. Eligibility and Enrolment
2.1 Who Can Participate
To participate in a Zeal-powered loyalty program, you must:
- Be at least 16 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction if higher)
- Have a valid phone number or email address for account identification
- Be a natural person (not a business or organisation)
- Have legal capacity to enter into this agreement
2.2 How to Enrol
You can join a loyalty program in several ways:
- Terminal Enrolment: Enter your phone number at the payment terminal when prompted
- Mobile App: Download the merchant’s branded app and create an account
- Card Linking: Link your payment card for automatic recognition at participating merchants
- Website: Register through a merchant’s website (where available)
2.3 Account Information
When enrolling, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Keep your information up to date
- Maintain the security of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access
2.4 One Account Per Person
You may only have one account per loyalty program. Creating multiple accounts to earn additional rewards is prohibited and may result in account termination and forfeiture of rewards.
3. Earning and Redeeming Rewards
3.1 How You Earn Rewards
Each merchant sets their own earning rules. Typically, you may earn rewards by:
- Making qualifying purchases at participating locations
- Completing specific actions defined by the merchant
- Participating in promotional campaigns
- Referring new customers (where offered)Points, stamps, or rewards are credited after the transaction is complete and verified. Refunded or voided transactions will result in deduction of associated rewards.
3.2 Reward Values and Redemption
Merchants determine the value and redemption options for rewards. Common redemption options include:
- Discounts on future purchases
- Free products or services
- Special offers or experiences
- Charitable donations (where offered)Redemption is subject to the merchant’s terms and availability. Some rewards may have expiry dates, minimum redemption thresholds, or other conditions.
3.3 Reward Expiry
Rewards may expire as follows:
- Individual rewards may have expiry dates set by the merchant
- Your entire account may become dormant after 24 months of inactivity
- Merchants may change expiry policies with reasonable noticeWe recommend checking your reward balance regularly and redeeming rewards before expiry.
3.4 Non-Transferability
Unless expressly permitted by the merchant:
- Rewards are personal to you and cannot be transferred, sold, or gifted
- Rewards have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money
- Rewards cannot be combined across different merchants’ programs
3.5 Program Changes
Merchants may modify their loyalty programs, including:
- Changing earning rates, reward values, or redemption options
- Adding or removing participating locations
- Modifying or discontinuing the program entirelyWe and/or the merchant will provide reasonable notice of material changes where practicable.
4. Payment Card Linking
4.1 What is Card Linking?
Card linking allows you to connect your payment card to your loyalty account for automatic recognition. When you pay with a linked card at a participating merchant, we recognise you without needing to enter your phone number.
4.2 How Card Linking Works
When you link a card:
- We receive a token (a secure substitute for your card number) from the payment network
- We never see or store your full card number, CVV, or PIN
- The token allows us to identify your transactions at participating merchants
- Your card details remain with your bank and payment provider
4.3 Your Control Over Card Linking
You can:
- Link multiple cards to your account
- Unlink cards at any time through your account settings or app
- Continue using the loyalty program without linking a card (using phone number instead)
4.4 Card Linking Consent
By linking a card, you consent to:
- Zeal receiving transaction tokens when you use the linked card at participating merchants
- Using this data to credit rewards and provide analytics to merchants
- Receiving communications related to your loyalty activityThis consent is specific to loyalty program purposes and does not affect your payment relationship with your bank.
5. Communications and Marketing
5.1 Service Communications
By participating in a loyalty program, you agree to receive essential service communications, including:
- Confirmation of enrolment and account activity
- Reward balances and redemption confirmations
- Important program updates and changes
- Security alerts and account notifications
5.2 Marketing Communications
With your consent, you may receive marketing communications from merchants, including:
- Special offers, promotions, and discounts
- New product or service announcements
- Personalised recommendations based on your preferences
- Surveys and feedback requests
5.3 Your Communication Choices
You can control marketing communications by:
- Adjusting preferences in your app or account settings
- Clicking ‘unsubscribe’ in any marketing email
- Replying STOP to SMS marketing messages
- Contacting us at privacy@getzeal.ioOpting out of marketing does not affect essential service communications.
6. Your Data and Privacy
6.1 What Data We Collect
When you participate in loyalty programs, we collect:
- Account information: Phone number, email address, name (if provided)
- Transaction data: Purchases, rewards earned and redeemed, transaction amounts
- Card tokens: Secure identifiers for linked payment cards (not card numbers)
- App usage data: How you interact with merchant apps (where applicable)
- Communication preferences: Your opt-in/opt-out choices
6.2 How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- Operate the loyalty program and credit rewards
- Recognise you at participating merchants
- Send you communications as described above
- Provide merchants with insights about their loyalty programs
- Improve our services and develop new features
- Prevent fraud and ensure security
6.3 Data Sharing

- Merchants: To operate your loyalty account and provide personalised service
- Service providers: Who help us operate our platform (under strict data protection agreements)

7. Acceptable Use
7.1 Your Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use the loyalty program only for personal, non-commercial purposes
- Provide accurate information and keep it updated
- Keep your account credentials secure
- Not share, sell, or transfer rewards except as expressly permitted
- Report any suspected fraud or unauthorised access
7.2 Prohibited Activities
You must not:
- Create multiple accounts or use false information
- Attempt to earn rewards fraudulently or manipulate the program
- Share account access with others
- Reverse engineer, hack, or attempt to compromise our systems
- Use the program for any illegal purpose
- Abuse, harass, or act inappropriately towards merchant staff
- Violate any applicable law or these Terms
7.3 Consequences of Misuse
If you violate these Terms, we may:
- Suspend or terminate your account
- Forfeit accumulated rewards
- Bar you from future participation
- Take legal action where appropriate
8. Limitation of Liability
8.1 Our Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We provide the loyalty platform on an ‘as is’ and ‘as available’ basis
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service
- We are not liable for the actions of participating merchants
- We are not liable for rewards not honoured by merchants
- Our total liability to you shall not exceed £100 or the value of rewards in your account, whichever is greater
8.2 Merchant Responsibility
Merchants are responsible for:
- Setting and honouring their reward programs
- The quality of their products and services
- Resolving disputes about transactions or rewards at their locationsIf you have a dispute about rewards or redemption at a specific merchant, please contact that merchant directly in the first instance.
8.3 What We Don’t Exclude
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any other liability that cannot be excluded by law
9. Ending Your Participation
9.1 You Can Leave Anytime
You can stop participating in a loyalty program at any time by:
- Deleting your account through the app or account settings
- Contacting us at support@getzeal.io
- Contacting the merchant directlyWhen you leave, any unredeemed rewards will be forfeited unless you redeem them before cancellation.
9.2 We Can End Your Participation
We may suspend or terminate your participation if:
- You breach these Terms
- You engage in fraudulent or abusive behaviour
- The merchant discontinues their loyalty program
- Required by law or regulationWhere possible, we will provide notice before termination and allow you to redeem earned rewards.
9.3 Program Discontinuation
If a merchant ends their loyalty program or our partnership ends:
- We will provide reasonable notice where possible
- You will have an opportunity to redeem earned rewards before the program closes
- After the program closes, unredeemed rewards cannot be claimed
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes:
- We will post the updated Terms on our website
- Material changes will be notified via email or in-app notification
- Changes take effect 30 days after posting unless stated otherwiseYour continued participation after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you don’t agree with changes, you can end your participation before they take effect.
11. Disputes and Complaints

- We will investigate and respond within 14 days
11.2 Merchant Disputes
For disputes about specific merchant transactions or rewards:
- Contact the merchant directly first
- If unresolved, contact us for assistance
- We can help mediate but cannot override merchant decisions about their program
11.3 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you need to take legal action, the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, though this does not affect your statutory rights to bring proceedings in your local courts if you live in another part of the UK.
12. General Provisions
12.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any merchant-specific program rules, constitute the entire agreement between you and Zeal regarding loyalty program participation.
12.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.
12.3 No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
12.4 Assignment
You cannot transfer your account or rights under these Terms. We may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation, but this will not affect your rights.
12.5 Third Party Rights
These Terms do not give rights to anyone other than you and Zeal, except that participating merchants may enforce terms relating to their programs.
