Loyalty that lives inside the payment

Zeal embeds loyalty in the payment experience with no recertification of your payment application and no interference with the payment flow. Zeal identifies the customer when the card is presented, before the transaction, and the payment then processes exactly as it does today. Where a customer redeems a reward, the amount updates before authorisation and the terminal follows card scheme rules, so there is one settled transaction and no added fees.

The World's #1 VAS Solution on Payment Terminals

Recognised at the moment of payment

When the card is presented, Zeal identifies the customer before the transaction and applies points and rewards while the payment completes. Nothing interrupts the flow and nothing is asked of the customer.

No recertification, no added fees

Zeal works alongside your certified payment stack, not inside it. There is no second authorisation and no added scheme fees, and where a customer redeems a reward the terminal follows card scheme rules with one settled transaction.

Yours to offer, terminal by terminal

You offer Zeal loyalty to merchants across your estate as a value-added service. It deploys remotely to the terminals already in the field, works the moment it is installed, and gives merchants a reason to stay on your machines.

Why loyalty inside the payment beats loyalty next to it

Card-linked loyalty runs inside the payment itself: Zeal identifies the customer when the card is presented, before the transaction, and the payment then processes exactly as it does today, with no recertification, no second authorisation and no added scheme fees. The stamp, the points and the reward happen on the terminal screen in the seconds the customer is already standing there, and redemption follows card scheme rules with one settled transaction. Nothing to download at the till, nothing extra to tap through just to pay.

What happens between the tap and the receipt?

The customer pays; the screen does the rest. Zeal recognises the card, adds the stamp, and shows progress while the payment completes. When a reward is earned, the terminal says so on the spot, in the merchant's own brand. At BRGR, every customer is identified as new or returning at the till, so the screen is never generic. Watch the sequence: card presented, customer recognised, stamp added; and on the visit that fills the card, a free burger, announced by the same machine that took the payment.

How do customers join at the terminal?

With one touch, mid-payment. The first time a card is presented, the customer is invited to join: no app to download, no form to fill in. Adding a phone number is optional: it brings exclusive offers and lets a customer link more than one card, and it can always be skipped. Consent comes first: identification happens only with the customer's agreement, and the payment completes exactly as it would have anyway.

Where does loyalty go beyond the terminal?

The same customer profile powers whatever else the merchant runs. For BRGR, Zeal built the full stack: loyalty in the payment flow, the BRGR app on iOS and Android, and brgr.com (ordering, loyalty progress and rewards), all reading from the profiles created at the till. A customer earns a stamp at the counter, watches the card fill in the app, and orders ahead on the website; to the merchant it is one customer, one history, one programme. See it live:

What is card-linked loyalty?

Card-linked loyalty is a loyalty programme attached to the customer's payment card rather than to an app, a code or a paper card. The card itself is the membership: presenting it at the terminal recognises the customer, with their consent, and earns or redeems rewards inside the payment flow. Websites have cookies; card machines have Zeal. The terminal knows its regulars the way a website knows its visitors, and redemption settles as one transaction under normal card scheme rules.

Where loyalty in the payment flow has limits

Cash customers are not identified: the programme covers card and mobile-wallet payments, which for most estates is the large majority of transactions. Stamps suit high-frequency, similar purchases; points fit varied spend. Merchants choose per programme, and choosing badly dulls the effect. And a loyalty screen amplifies a proposition rather than creating one: the reward still has to be worth coming back for. Providers see the strongest results where activation is worked into onboarding rather than left for later.

Questions providers ask about loyalty in the payment flow

Does loyalty at the terminal slow down the queue?

No. Recognition happens when the card is presented, progress appears while the payment completes, and every prompt can be skipped with one touch. The transaction itself is unchanged.

Do customers need to download an app?

No. The card is the membership. An app and website can sit on top (BRGR's do, built by Zeal), but joining and earning happen at the terminal with nothing to install.

How does redemption work?

Inside the payment flow, following card scheme rules, with one settled transaction: no second authorisation and no added scheme fees. The customer sees the reward applied on screen.

Stamps or points: which does Zeal support?

Both. Stamps suit frequent, similar purchases (ten visits, free burger) while points reward varied baskets. Merchants choose per programme and can gift stamps, points or vouchers from their dashboard.

What results has this produced for real merchants?

At BRGR, 100% of customers are identified as new or returning at the terminal, and restaurants running Zeal loyalty see 15% more repeat visits. Recognition compounds as more of the customer base joins.

Put loyalty where every customer already is: the payment. Talking to Zeal takes two steps: tell us which kind of provider you are, then book straight into the right person's calendar.
