Value-added services for ISOs: loyalty on the terminal you already supply

Independent sales organisations sell terminals and acquiring on thin residuals and lose merchants whenever a competitor undercuts by a few basis points. Zeal gives an ISO a reason for the merchant to stay that has nothing to do with price: a customer database and loyalty programme that live on the terminal the ISO supplied, plus a daily churn-risk score for every merchant in the estate. It installs as software on supported Android terminals, with no hardware change and no change to acquiring.

Print your own branded receipt

Type a company name (payment provider or merchant, either works), then keep scrolling. The card machine does the rest: your name on the screen, your receipt out of the printer, and your customer's loyalty balance already on it.

The World's #1 VAS Solution on Payment Terminals

Why ISOs lose merchants

Merchants leave on price because nothing else ties them to the provider. When the only thing a terminal does is take payments, every terminal is interchangeable and the cheapest offer wins.

Retention built into the terminal

Every customer profile a merchant builds on the terminal makes leaving harder. Loyalty, recognition and insights become part of how the merchant runs the business, and they live on the device you supplied.

How the revenue works for an ISO

Value-added services are billed as a subscription, shared with the ISO. That is recurring revenue on top of residuals, from hardware that is already deployed.

The card machine is the only thing every customer touches

A loyalty scheme lives or dies on how many people join it, and almost every scheme puts its hardest step first: asking a customer to do something extra while other people wait behind them.

Cards get left at home. Apps get installed once and never opened. QR codes need a phone in hand before payment rather than after. Every one of those mechanics loses most of the people it is offered to, which is why app-based loyalty has never been a retention tool for payment providers.

The card machine has none of those problems. It is already in the customer's hands, it already has their attention for a few seconds, and using it requires nothing they have not already decided to do.

So Zeal puts recognition and enrolment there. A returning customer sees their balance or reward while the payment completes. A new one can join in a couple of taps. The merchant sees who is new and who is returning from the first week.

For the provider it means every merchant in the estate gets the same experience, deployed remotely, with no dependence on the merchant's staff to make it work.

Estate-wide visibility for ISOs

Zeal's provider portal shows real-time transactions across the whole merchant estate, across acquirers, with a daily churn-risk score for every merchant so your team calls before the merchant cancels.

The same software runs on one terminal or across tens of thousands. Reporting is consistent because every device is running the same thing.

What merchants get

Customer recognition at the point of payment, a loyalty programme with no app, branded digital receipts and a dashboard showing who is new, who is returning and which offers work. All of it in your brand if you want it that way.

Because a redemption is a real transaction rather than a click, the reporting describes visits and takings, which is the kind of information a merchant acts on and a provider can sell.

How it fits with your payment application

Zeal runs alongside the certified payment application on the terminal. It does not process payments, it requires no recertification, and it does not interfere with the payment flow or add scheme fees.

Support depends on terminal model, firmware and the payment application on the device. We certify per configuration and deploy through your terminal management system or ours.

What are value-added services on a payment terminal?

Value-added services are software features delivered on the payment terminal beyond the payment itself: loyalty, customer identification, digital receipts, offers and analytics. For a payment provider they create recurring subscription revenue and reduce merchant churn; for the merchant they turn the card machine into a retention tool.

What it will not do

It will not fix a merchant who is unhappy with your service or pricing on its own; it makes a satisfied merchant far harder to poach. It only covers card-present customers, and it builds value at the speed of the merchant's trade.

Questions from ISOs

How long does deployment take?

Certification for a new terminal configuration is measured in weeks; deployment to certified devices is remote and measured in days. Merchant onboarding is a short setup rather than a project.

Can it run in our brand?

Yes. Zeal can be white-labelled across the terminal experience, the merchant dashboard and digital receipts, so the merchant sees your brand throughout.

How does an ISO deploy Zeal across an existing estate?

Remotely, to supported Android terminals, subject to model, firmware and acquirer route. There is no site visit and the merchant's acquiring is unchanged. We work with your terminal management set-up to roll out estate-wide or by merchant segment.

What does the commercial model look like?

A subscription per merchant or per terminal, revenue-shared with you, with a free tier available to drive adoption across the estate. We will model it against your merchant count and churn rate.

If you are an ISO looking at value-added services, the fastest way to evaluate Zeal is a short call with your terminal models and merchant count to hand. We will tell you what is supported and what the revenue looks like.
