Loyalty on your Adyen card machine
Adyen is the enterprise acquirer behind many multi-site retailers and restaurant groups, with unified online and in-store processing. If you take payments on an Adyen card machine, Zeal adds a loyalty programme to the terminal you already have, installed as software: no second device, no app for customers to download and no QR code before payment. Your Adyen acquiring, pricing and settlement stay exactly as they are.
The World's #1 VAS Solution on Payment Terminals

Why loyalty fails at an Adyen counter
Most schemes ask an Adyen merchant's customer to do something extra at the busiest moment of the transaction: find a card, open an app, scan a code. Staff forget to ask, queues build, and enrolment stalls within a few weeks of launch.

Enrolment inside the payment
The terminal handles recognition and sign-up as part of the card transaction the customer is already completing on the Adyen card machine. Nothing is added to the queue and nothing is asked of the person serving.
Works with Adyen terminals
Adyen supplies Android terminals (its S1 and P400 families among others) and supports installed applications on the device. Zeal is deployed remotely to supported Android terminals, subject to compatibility for the specific model, firmware, payment application and acquirer route. No new hardware arrives and no engineer visits. The first thing we do with any Adyen merchant is confirm the device on the counter.

The card machine is the only thing every customer touches
A loyalty scheme lives or dies on how many people join it, and almost every scheme puts its hardest step first: asking a customer to do something extra while other people wait behind them at the Adyen card machine.
Cards get left at home. Apps get installed once and never opened. QR codes need a phone in hand before payment rather than after. Every one of those mechanics loses most of the people it is offered to, and it loses them fastest at exactly the times a business is busiest.
The card machine has none of those problems. It is already in the customer's hands, it already has their attention for a few seconds, and using it requires nothing they have not already decided to do. It is the one moment in the whole visit that is genuinely universal.
So Zeal puts recognition and enrolment there. A returning customer sees their balance or reward while the payment completes. A new one can join in a couple of taps without giving an email address at the counter or downloading anything.
It also means the scheme does not depend on staff. Nobody has to remember the script, new starters need no training on it, and the experience is the same on a quiet Tuesday and a Saturday lunch rush.
For Adyen independents and groups
The same software runs on one Adyen terminal or across an estate of them. A single site gets the same mechanics a chain gets; a chain gets consistent reporting across sites because every location is running the same thing.
For a small business that usually matters more than the features. Most loyalty tools built for independents are simplified versions of enterprise products; this is the same product, sized to the counter it sits on.
What you can see afterwards
Who is new and who is returning, how often regulars come back, and which offers actually brought someone through the door again. Redemption is recorded at the terminal that issued the offer.
Because a redemption is a real transaction rather than a click, the numbers describe visits and takings. That is a different kind of information from social media reach, and it is the kind an owner can act on.
How it fits with Adyen
Zeal runs alongside the Adyen payment application on the terminal. It does not process payments, it does not change who acquires for you and it does not alter how Adyen prices or settles you.
Whether it can be installed on your specific Adyen card machine depends on the model, its firmware, the payment application on it and your acquirer route. That is the first thing we check, and it is a short conversation rather than a project.
What is loyalty on an Adyen card machine?
Loyalty on an Adyen card machine is a loyalty programme delivered by software running on the payment terminal itself, so customers are recognised and rewarded during the card transaction rather than through a separate card, app or QR code. With Zeal it is installed remotely to supported terminals and does not replace or alter the certified Adyen payment application on the device.
What it will not do
It will not bring back a customer who did not enjoy the visit; loyalty rewards intent that already exists. It only reaches people who pay by card, so a cash-heavy business sees a smaller audience. And it builds at the speed of your trade: a quiet week is a quiet week for the programme too.
Adyen loyalty questions
Will it work on my Adyen card machine?
If your Adyen terminal is an Android smart device it is a candidate. Tell us the model on your counter and that you are with Adyen, and we will confirm whether it is supported before anything else is discussed.
Does the customer need to download an app?
No. Everything happens on the terminal during the payment. There is no app, no plastic card and no code to scan, which is the whole reason enrolment holds up instead of tailing off after the first month.
How does Zeal fit an Adyen estate?
Adyen estates are usually multi-site, so the question is consistency: one loyalty behaviour across every terminal, with reporting at group level. Zeal deploys as an application alongside the Adyen payment app, subject to model and configuration, and reports across the whole estate.
Do I have to leave Adyen?
No. Zeal sits alongside the Adyen payment application rather than replacing it, so Adyen remains your acquirer and your rates and settlement stay as they are. What matters is whether the terminal is supported, not who you bank with.
The quickest way to find out is to tell us what is on your counter. Give us the model of your Adyen card machine and we will tell you whether it can run Zeal.
