Zeal vs Yoyo, now Neal Street Rewards: app loyalty or card machine loyalty

Yoyo, now Neal Street Rewards, runs pay-and-earn loyalty apps for coffee chains and campuses, including apps for Caffè Nero, Harris + Hoole and PAUL UK. Customers install the app, link a payment card and show a QR code at the till to pay and earn. Zeal runs on the card machine instead, recognising customers from the card they already pay with.

How customers earn: Neal Street Rewards vs Zeal

With Neal Street Rewards, the customer needs the app: they register, link a card or Apple or Google Pay, and show a QR code that pays and earns in one scan. With Zeal, the customer taps their card as usual; Zeal recognises the card, new customers join in a couple of taps on the card machine screen, and points, stamps or vouchers are awarded during the payment.

Recognise your regulars, then reward them

Zeal identifies the customer from the card, enrols new ones in a couple of taps on the terminal screen, and awards points, stamps or vouchers during the payment. Your customer database grows with every card payment, with nothing for the customer or your staff to remember.

Choosing between Zeal and Neal Street Rewards

Neal Street Rewards may suit you if you are a chain that wants its own branded pay-and-earn app with digital receipts. Zeal suits you if you want every customer who pays by card to be able to earn, without an app, on the card machine you already have.

FAQ

Zeal vs Neal Street Rewards

Frequently asked questions

What happened to Yoyo?

Companies House records show Yoyo Wallet was renamed Teya Rewards in 2023 and Neal Street Technologies in 2024, and yoyowallet.com now redirects to nealstreet.tech. Its multi-merchant app is called Neal Street Rewards, and it also runs branded apps for retailers such as Caffè Nero.

How do customers earn with Neal Street Rewards?

The customer installs the app, registers and links a payment card or Apple or Google Pay once. At the till they show a QR code from the app, which refreshes regularly, and one scan pays and earns points.

Does Neal Street Rewards need an app?

Yes. Paying and earning happen through the app. Zeal does not use an app: customers are recognised from the card they pay with and join on the card machine screen.

How is Zeal different from Neal Street Rewards?

Neal Street Rewards puts payment and loyalty inside a consumer app. Zeal puts loyalty inside the card payment the customer already makes, on supported card machines from payment providers such as Adyen, DNA Payments, Elavon, Lloyds Cardnet, NMI, Viva Wallet and Worldpay.

When was this comparison checked?

The Neal Street Rewards details on this page come from its app listings, help centre and Companies House records, checked in October 2026. Products change, so check with Neal Street Rewards for the latest. The Zeal details come from Zeal's own product information.
